St Peter Port Lifeboat” launched to assist “French Yacht

At 0625 on Wednesday 13th July 2016, Guernsey Coastguard received a call from the local fishing vessel “Asile Sur” declaring he could see a French yacht on Brehon Tower rocks with the sails up.

The “Asile Sur” confirmed no crew could be seen with the yacht at 0630.

St Peter Port lifeboat departed at 0648 and found the yacht “Marateu” at 0653; the lifeboat deployed the Y boat dinghy and found one Crew on board the yacht that was unwilling to leave his yacht.

The Lifeboat arrived back in St Peter Port at 0757, the harbour work boat “Sarnia” will assist the yacht to re-float on the next high water if required.
